How are you empowering [insert any minority group] in sports or STEM?

This is one of the best questions that I get every time I travel to speak and I answer it the same every time — exactly by standing here on this stage. The world gets a little brighter, a little more achievable, and a little more hopeful when we don’t feel like the outsider. As a black female, that seems impossible some days, but most days I stand in its power to illuminate that light to another person who took an hour out of their day to hear my story. Speaking engagements I have done and will continue to do range from Facebook Conferences with hundreds of people down to a small group of aspiring high school students still figuring out what they want to do in this big world.
